Well, let’s start with me turning 50!!!!! My birthday weekend in Truckee, California. It’s right by Lake Tahoe and I had never been. I really really liked the place! Took a 1h flight to Reno. Picked up a rental car at the airport and had to grab some food in Reno before driving to Truckee. Mexican food is almost always a hit and pair that with a Margarita, and it’s most likely a success. Mexcal was a great spot and the food was delicious!
The Airbnb was about 15 minutes outside of the city of Truckee. No streetlights, just the woods surrounding you. A little spooky…
Place was great and I enjoyed the big deck outside with the trees surrounding the place. I always bring single packs of instant coffee so I know I’m guaranteed caffeine first thing after I wake up!
Then headed into town and the most recommended breakfast spot was Squeeze In. The name was decided since the place is tight and you have to kind of squeeze yourself in. Established in 1974 and popping since then. So good and I get why they’re so popular!
I had obviously scouted out some coffee places too. It’s a small town so you get everywhere by walking. Right by Truckee River was Dark Horse Coffee Roasters. Thumbs up for a great cup of java!
Decided that this weekend was also the weekend to treat myself even if it contained sugar. Right outside town was Whole Treats Bakery. I think everything was made there and gluten free. Opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a cinnamon bun. They made love to my mouth!!! Do I even have to point out that I was beyond stuffed after this hahahaaa…
Before I left, my neighbors told me I have to visit the nude beach there. Not just for the nude people, but they said it was beautiful. Off I went to Secret Cove Nude Beach. Beautiful drive out there and couldn’t believe Lake Tahoe had such clear water! Had to make a couple of stops along the way and lookiloo… Not to mention the houses right on the water!
Parked by the road when I my navigation alerted I reached the Nude Beach. It’s a hike down there and a couple of signs telling you that you might encounter naked people and to act normal hahahaaa…
The beach was one of the top 3 beaches I’ve ever been to! So beautiful and crystal clear water. You find your own little spot and I shared a small sandy spot with a naked man that was from all over the place. Not everyone was naked and I think it was about 80% men naked and 20% women. Interesting split…
I hope I make it back to this beach in the future!!!!
Beach and all that fresh air made me hungry again. Found Buoy & Trap that had lobster rolls which I love. Had a great conversation with this man (forgot his name), but he was from Chile and arranges tours there. I said I might one day hit him up as I would love to explore Chile. The lobster roll was top notch too!
Chilled at night and watched the stars with a glass of wine 🙂
How cool was it that the Airbnb was on Stockholm Way?
Spent the day in Truckee. Tried Cafe Lupine for breakfast. Cute place, but the ready made breakfast burritos were nothing special. The bakery treats were good and my coffee was pretty good.
After checking some shops out I checked out one more coffee spot – Coffeebar. They served it like 300 degrees so burned my tougue 🙁 They had one more spot in town and they served it perfect and their coffee was great. Could barely drink this after my burnt mouth!
In the evening it was time for my birthday dinner. One day early though, but whatever! It was a 10 course chefs tasting menu at Trokay. Wow wow wow! It was amazing! I loved the variety of meats I got to try and the brioche with caviar and pine cone syrup dessert was one of the best things I’ve eaten! Everyone that worked there was super nice too. Would eat it all all over again right now!
Sunday – me 50 years of experience, adventures, up’s and downs and now I’m aiming for 50 more! Happy birthday to me again and well done making it to 50 in one piece 🙂
Checked out of the airbnb and went for breakfast at Donner Kitchen by Donner Lake. Another popular spot and there was a wait. It was worth it!
Didn’t expect a lot from Donner Lake after seeing Lake Tahoe, but it was super nice too. Picked an easy trail and walked around until I found a nice spot by an inlet to chill at. Spotted this lady canoeing with her dog 🙂
Walked a bit more and then read at this dock. Might of taken a nap there too…
Before driving back to Reno I fueled up from the other Coffeebar which was great. Also spotted this cute Frenchie in a stroller 🙂
Arrived home at night to a happy Hunter. He was getting spoiled by Jennifer Dark while I was gone so no need to worry about him 🙂 Here’s him dressed up for my birthday pics. How handsome is he?
That was one awesome birthday weekend. I’m pretty sure I’ll go back there one day!
Before the trip Angel invited me to go see Chris Brown and Usher here in Vegas. I might not be as big of a fan of them as Angel is, but it was a great concert! She had gotten some VIP tickets so we took full advantage of free drinks and hit the sugar station like 2 happy kids hahahaaa….

Our fall league in pickleball started. We’ve been practicing a lot and last Monday we won our first game wohooo! Me & Courtney won 4 out of 6 games! It was pretty windy when we started so it was hard to play, but we figured it out! I did get hit in the lip and the tit with a pickleball that day, but a win is a win!
Afterwards we went and picked up our Championship rings from winning the summer league! Woop woop!
Oh, I did get 100 pickleballs for my birthday too, so now I can go hit and practice even more!

Don’t have time to write more. Time to change and off for our Sunday practice 🙂 First week as 50 has been great and I’ll leave you with a couple of Hunter & me pics 🙂 Oh, he had a fight the other night and as I came running out, he was chasing a cat down our street. Good boy!
