Valle de Bravo

As I wrote before, we visited the town Valle de Bravo and loved it. It’s only about a 2 hour drive from Mexico City, and we took an Uber there.

We stayed at La Casa Rodavento, a small boutique hotel right next to the town. It was only two minutes walking to all the shopping and restaurants. No kids allowed there which for me is a bonus. Don’t worry if you have kids, since there’s also Hotel Rodavento. It’s located about 25 min away from town, it’s beautiful, and they allow kids. It’s more secluded in the woods and the spa is also located there. Last option is Cinco Rodavento in the middle of the city.

Had a great room on the bottom floor. There are 2 floors. We appreciated the welcome shots 🙂

Huge bathroom with a big shower, an outdoor shower, and bathtub. Nice products too and mirrors for selfies 😉

The first day was cloudy and rainy, so just took a short stroll in town.

We ate at our hotel and the food is good. Not a huge menu but the little desserts churros are to die for!!!!

Next day we had a beautiful sunny day. Pictures from the pool at the hotel and the view from the second-floor rooftop. The rooftop has a hottub by the way, but never had the time to use it, and I even missed taking a picture of it.

The town is so cute and amazing. I love the small alleys everywhere.

Great shopping, cute cafes and restaurants. Me being a caffeine addict, i tried two places for coffee and both where great. This one was called La Machinhuepa Valle. Cute place and made friends with this dog that followed us into the cafe.

The best one was Caos Cafe. Beans roasted right there and I made another cute friend 🙂 Look at his different colored eyes, so cool!

Explored an art gallery, did some shopping, and peaked inside of a church. Could’ve spent more time in town, but we had massages booked so had to go…

As I wrote on top, the spa is located at their other place called Hotel Rodavento. Very glad we got to see that place too because it’s different and very relaxing in the woods. It was pouring down when we where there, and it felt like we where in the jungle!

I had booked a 2h package with massage and a facial treatment. Unfortunately my masseuse was either not very well trained or just not into massaging people. I was pretty disappointed after. When we then asked to go to the outdoor pool and hottub we were told they close at 6pm and it was now 5.40pm. We were also informed that it was not included in the massage package to use the pool or hottub. I’ve never been to a spa where pool, tubs or saunas are not included. I wish they would’ve informed me of these details when making a reservation. We still checked out the area and I can imagine it be pretty relaxing to sit out there. If you paid for it that is 😉

After talking to the manager about my massage, he offered me a 15% discount. I told him that I’m not very pleased with that. He made a call and 30% was taken off the total bill. That was satisfactory as my partner’s massage was good.

Instead of ‘hanging lip’ over the spa experience we decided to try their restaurant. This hotel has such beautiful walk-ways and a very nice view from the restaurant.

Food was very good and stuffed my face with the mini churros they had at this place too 🙂 Next time in Valle de Bravo I would like to stay at this place too.

Next morning we had breakfast and then spent some time trying to get a ride back to Mexico City. Uber doesn’t run out there so after some phone calls we found a local driver to take us back. Next time I would probably handle this before, but hey, in Mexico everything always works out one way or another 🙂 I really really recommend a visit to Valle de Bravo! I would go back right away if I didn’t have so many other spots on my to-visit list here in Mexico!

Hope you are having or had a great Halloween. I’ll share some of mine in next post. Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos is a big holiday here. One of my best friends from Sweden arrives here tomorrow. Going to be so much fun and can’t wait to show her CDMX! And eat the Swedish candy she hopefully brings me hahahaaa 🙂

Happy Halloweeen, Puma

Last week flew…

…by and I had to look at my pictures to remember what I did. Sometimes it feels like all I do is have-to-do things that take up so much time.Making appointments, signing up for a mail forwarding service in Texas that required a zoom meeting to get notarized, getting lashes done (although I managed to take a nap at the same time so not a complete waste), etc. Going through pics and editing them. I only enjoy being in front of the camera or taking pics 🙂 Also went to the dentist, but I didn’t take pictures when I was there, because that’s an uncomfortable situation and I have to concentrate on not freaking out.

OK, enough complaining! Moving over to the good parts 🙂

I try to go for walks in the evening at least a couple of times a week. Perfect way to relax and I try to explore streets or areas where I haven’t walked before. Most of the time it’s rewarding and I find something new like a store, restaurant, or cafe. Last week I found this huge amazing bookstore called Fondo de Cultura Economica. I love books and bought 2 cool coffee table books. Pretty cool they had a book about Swedish architecture in wood.

I’ve also heard about this supposedly great bar at Four Seasons. Finally got a chance to visit last week and it’s a great place to check out. Had a drink and food at Fifty Mils. Creative cocktails and not super expensive either. Recommend to check this place out!

Got some great content done and couple of updates on Pussitive 🙂

On weekends they have dogs & cats for adoption at the park nearby. I can’t go there anymore on weekends because I just want to “save” them all. I started crying and had to walk away from the park…

I do enjoy seeing all the dogs around town when being out though, and here’s last weeks’ favorites :)This dog walker had 13 dogs out for a walk!

Not so common to see cats here so I got so excited to run into this one at the store. The couple told me they bring him/her everywhere with them.

Finally managed to hit the gym 4 times (my goal) last week. Here’s a couple of pics to prove it 🙂

I heard about this girl who does amazing nails and was told she was coming to visit Mexico City for a few days to take appointments. I haven’t had acrylic nails forever because after having them for years my own nails were ruined. After seeing her pics on Instagram I got excited and wanted cool ass nails by her. Yes, it’s hard to wipe your ass with them LOL…

I love the outdoors and will try to get outdoors more. There are so many options here and you can easily Uber to most of them. On Sunday we went to Los Dinamos park. 30min way with Uber and really nice. It’s a bit more family oriented by the entrance, but it gets more peaceful the further up you go. Ran into a farmer with a bunch of dogs trying to herd a bunch of sheep & goats 🙂 And yeah, could not walk by without taking a pic of the donkey with his dick out! I mean, who could?

Will definitely go back and bring my Kindle and snacks!

Now going to practice some Spanish and then go for an other walk 🙂 Have an amazing week!

Moving business

Finally in the new apartment!!! “Efter mycket om och men…” as we say in Swedish. Translation would be something like ‘After a lot of if’s and but’s…’. Different realtors have different requirements when you are not a Mexican resident. Some require extra deposits, guarantors, or in my case, a security check done by a company, insurance in case I take off, and extra rent deposits. Well, I passed the security check and then it came to sign the lease agreement and paying the insurance. Lease agreement was 14 pages in Spanish. (Thank you Caroline in Puerto Rico for translating despite sick baby crying and storms). Insurance needed to be paid in cash as the 1st months rent. Emptied (not really) an ATM. After adjustments to the agreement, signing and paying, with them having 2 lawyers present, I thought it was finally done.

Nope, next they didn’t want cash. Cash returned and wire transfers needed to be made. BUT, I’m very happy to say that I have finally moved in! Well, still waiting to have the washer/dryer, dish washer and refrigerator installed, but I love the apartment!

Me delivering some necessities to myself the night before moving in.

There’s been a lot of trying and buying furniture, kitchen stuff, and trying out the perfect pillow this past week.

Tiring to run around, but luckily there’s tacos around ever corner to energize you!

When tacos aren’t enough – go for sugar! This crazy donut shop is called The Secret Donut Society. You enter this room to place your donut order.

Then go into this room to pick up your order from one of the mirrored cabinet on the wall.

And then you stuff yourself! By the way, there is almost always a line outside. Only had to wait about 15min to get in…

Good thing there’s a great gym close to me so I can burn off the tacos & donuts 🙂

Also thrown some paint on my face and worked 🙂

Found a great nail salon close by too. Got to keep them claws sharp!

This weeks favorite dogs that I’ve come across 🙂 Last dog probably would’ve jumped out of the window if he’d fit hahhaaaaa….

I’m now seated on my new comfy couch. Should pack up after I finish writing this, but I have a feeling I’ll stay comfy on this couch! I need to charge my batteries because tomorrow my sister gets here – YAY! So happy and excited about that! Already planned some activities and going to be awesome to show her Mexico City!

Hope you have had a great week!

Puerto Rico –> Mexico

Sunday evening In Mexico City. Arrived here exactly one week ago last Sunday night. I got everything packed although I had to go buy one more suitcase to fit everything 🙂 The espresso machine & coffee grinder just had to come (life essentials) so that was pretty much one suitcase.

Of course there was the last minute throwing stuff away that just didn’t fit. There was a huge black trash bag full of skimpy outfits. The next morning when I left to work out, I spot a pair of my metallic hotpants outside the entrance to my building. Weird I thought, they must’ve fallen out even though I tied the bag. When I passed the trash containers, all of my stuff had been spread out on the ground LOL… Guess no one was in need of any fishnets and neon colored lingerie 🙂

Sad that I had to leave my Xmas tree behind that served year around for 2 years now hahahaaaa…

Had to squeeze in one last beach day with Masha. Wow, found such a cool spot and stayed until the sun went down and we were all alone on the beach…

Finally came Sunday and time for Mexico. Good thing there are Uber XL’s 🙂

I love flying and getting the aerial view from above.

And look at this cool dog that boarded too hahhaaaaa…

And when you are Puma Swede, they give you your initial on you food tray. Or could’ve been just old regular Pepper & Salt if you lack imagination hahaahahaa…

Got called aside for an extra check up of all the luggage at Mexico City airport. They acted very casual when they packed up clear stripper heels, a coffee grinder and Pussitive merchandise. I’m just happy they didn’t pack up the bag with toys and vibrators LOL! One bag even gave up and had to be taped and put in a plastic bag.

I missed all the food here! Had to start out like a champion and went to Niddo. Wow, wow, wow!!!! It’s a must when here. Just look at these pancakes! It’s a super popular spot so be prepared to wait if you show up at popular times!

I have to give 2 more recommendations. Casa Virginia and Anatol. Super great, tasty food & cocktails!

And my other favorite thing here is all the dogs everywhere!

But then I came across these 3 beauties. So cool and one of them started chewing down paper and some trash. They told me they eat everything. Made me think of the movie Snatch (great movie) and the guy that says:

“And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it’s no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies’ digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don’t want to go sievin’ through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, “as greedy as a pig.”

Between apartment hunting I got some photos and videos done…

That is pretty much everything from this past week in CDMX. Tomorrow viewing 4 apartments. Left an offer for one today and will see if it gets accepted tomorrow. Cross your fingers 🙂 Thought it would be easier to find a furnished place here, but the nicer apartments are all unfurnished. But hey, they got IKEA here!

Last weekend in CDMX

My visit to Mexico is coming to an end. Would be even more sad if I didn’t know that I will be back in August 🙂 Tomorrow we are flying to Utan and staying with Ari’s family. Very excited about that since I love being there. More about Utah when I get there 🙂

In my last blog I wrote that I felt better on Sunday. But that was apparently a joke. On Monday I got a stomach flu and pretty much lived in the bathroom. You don’t need more details than that LOL… I tried charcoal powder, oregano oil and some pills from the pharmacy, but nothing helped. Finally called a doctor that gave me some stronger pills and felt better later that day already.

Felt good to emerge back to normal life and be out and about without scouting for a bathroom, just in case hahhaaa…

Also straight back to being a sleazeball!

I met a cool girl named Daniella. She knows all the good spots here and recommended a place name Boxque Teva. Wow, don’t even know how to describe this place. Like a hobbit place for adults in the woods. I felt right at home. Some architect built a bunch of similar houses here and the place is just amazing! 45min from Mexico City and a $10 Uber ride away. If you are here, you must visit this place!

And look at the room we stayed in! Like something out of Red Light District in Amsterdam hahahaaa…

On Thursday morning at 7.30 Daniella came and we did breathing exercises and then cold plunge like Wim Hof. I’ve never been able to stay in more than 20 sec. This time I sat in for 2 minutes! When I was able to relax just a little, it felt OK. But I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to being in ice cold water even though I’m a Finn.

I did enjoy the hot tub better at night time 🙂

I can’t wait to come back here! Here’s their website if you want to book a room or some activities they have 🙂 https://boxqueteva.com/

Also finished this book while sick – ‘Popular Hits of the Show Era’ by Ryu Murakami. Hmm, how to describe it. Violently funny. A male and female gang in Tokyo start killing each other. I thought it was a funny book and can recommend it.

Got our Covid tests done yesterday so we are allowed back in the US. All negative 🙂

Gonna do some shopping today and start packing. And obviously eat tacos 🙂

Stay healthy! Being sick sucks!

Kisses, Puma
