Beast, Waterfall, Dinners & Shrooms….

Feels like I have most of my stuff in order now. Kind of…. Moved in to my own casita on the property and have my suitcases open trying to figure out where to put what. Honestly I’m just too lazy to deal with it all at once (boring).

Had friends in town from SF and one of them bought the Cyber Beast. WOW, such a cool car! For example, it can put on a light show which was pretty awesome. I would just blast that off randomly at a parking lot at night. My friend Ari got dressed up for the occasion I guess…

One night we went out eating and took the Beast. It records video around the car while it’s parked and it was funny to see people fixing their hair and checking themselves out in the car windows reflection… Great dinner by the way too 🙂

On the topic of dinners, my ‘dinner-with-strangers’ on Wednesday was also great. We were 2 tables with 6 people on each and were able to combine the tables together, so I met 12 new interesting people. If you get a chance to go to one of these, go! It’s so much fun! My next dinner with strangers is next week on Thursday 🙂

I scored Instagram to find a photographer here in Salt Lake City area and finally found one. We scheduled the shoot and he texted in the morning that he was on the way. 15 min later I get a text that he has been in a car accident. Luckily nothing serious, but we he had to cancel. Luckily I’m pretty capable and managed to scrape some content together on my own 🙂

There are a bunch of plastic surgery clinics here. I need to (or want to at least) do an eyelid surgery. One of them is pretty droopy and I went to see a surgeon here. Decided I want to hear what at least one more clinic has to say even though this surgeon seems skilled (and expensive lol).

Been doing pretty good at the gym even though it’s hard to drag your a*s there when it feels like 150 degrees outside!

My favorite moment this week was going hiking yesterday! It’s amazing how many trails there are to choose from just a short drive away! I went to Bell Canyon and it was a great trail. The higher up you went, the more shaded it got and was perfect to soak your hands and feet in the ice cold water on the way. When it says there’s a waterfall, there actually is a proper one! Done too many hikes and chased too many waterfalls to just find a semi dried up fall with just some water trickling down so this was amazing!

I was pretty exhausted when I got back and luckily Hunter was supportive of the suggestion of a nap 🙂

Hunter is loving his new grounds here. He stays close but likes to do small excursions…

For some reason the water I give him is not to his liking. He prefers to drink the sprinkler water off the ground or where ever he might find it lol…

Almost forgot about another amazing thing that happened this week. A long time friend of mine put me in contact with one of her friends here who I told you is also a psychonaut. Well earlier this week we met up and let this picture show you how awesome she is!

She had made me a little welcome present. She is super cool and and we shared a lot of psychedelic stories and I can’t wait to hang out with her again 🙂

Next week I’m going to look at cars. Was going today and halfway it hit me that maybe they are not open on Sundays. Yup, closed on Sundays so went to REI instead to look at camping stuff. I hope to go on an overnight hike next weekend.

I hope you are doing great!

1st week in Salt Lake City

Mostly been settling in here this past week. There’s a great gym Xcel Fitness that I joined. It’s two stories and has everything and more that you may or may not need in a gym 🙂

How was your 4th of July? Here it was a full house with BBQ and Indian food. I ate some spicy chicken and downed a quarter of a cheese and meat board so I woke up with cramps. That’s what you get when you can’t control yourself hahahhaaa…

I wake up early with Hunter and I enjoy sitting outside thinking about big things and contemplating life. The other morning this deer family walked by… Despite his name, Hunter, he didn’t make an attempt to go and catch dinner 😉

I finally got my hair fixed too. The worn out yellow-blonde with rat colored roots was in long need of some maintenance. I’m so happy with the results!

Taking some walks around the beautiful neighbourhood. I love passing the house with goats 🙂

Edited come content from my last shoot in Mexico…

Today we went to Park City for brunch and walking around….

And Hunter wants you to know he is also doing great 🙂

Next week I’m getting my own casita here. Visiting a plastic surgeon to maybe cut a bit on my droopy eyelids and meeting my friends from SF and a friend of a friend who also is a psychonaut 🙂 #matchmadebyshrooms. Also shooting, working out, and hopefully go on a hike in the mountains 🙂 And just signed up for a ‘dinner with strangers’ experience here in Salt Lake City – exciting!

And that’s a wrap for today 🙂 Wishing you a fabulous week coming up whether you’re working or on vacation!

Patagonia – Argentina

Arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night. Luckily my face recovered pretty good and I looked pretty much like my passport picture even though I was still swollen.

Only had time to check in at the Airbnb and grab a coffee (and snap a semi nudish pic) in the morning before it was time to head to another airport and catch a domestic flight to Bariloche.

The rental car guy waited at the airport with the car and we were able to get a better rate by paying him in US dollars. Not sure how many of you know about the economic situation and the inflation here in Argentina? You basically are paying double if you pay by card. Half the rate if you pay cash. We were able to exchange some US dollars to their pesos so we could get past the first day. Then I sent myself a money transfer by Western Union. There was some work to it, but finally I had cash!

It’s beautiful here. We’re staying a bit outside the main area and next to the Nahuel Huapi lake. The view from the apartment.

Walked to a restaurant close by and ate some meat, walked the beach and later indulged in a bucket of ice cream 🙂 There are so many ice cream and chocolate places here!

The next day we found a great coffee truck to get the caffeine fix sorted out.

Then took a tour around the area. You pretty much have water around you at all times. Stopped and did a hike to a lookout spot called Cerro Llau Llau. Luckily there was another coffee truck there so we could have some more coffee before ascending…

Then grabbed food and had one of the best meals here so far. The restaurant is called Montana and the meats are cooked over open fire! The plan is to go back before we leave!

There are so many great spots and viewpoints so there are many stops along the way…

On Friday we drove about 2,5h south to a town called El Bolson. Apparently a bunch of hippies came here in the 60’s and 70’s and the town definitely had a bohemian and relaxed vibe. I really liked it here. It reminded me of Salt Lake City in Utah with all the surrounding mountains…

The next day we took a hike up to Refugio de Montaña Cerro Piltriquitrón. They have a lot of gravel roads here and we had to first drive 8km up to the parking spot before hitting the trail…

Even though it was all uphill, the trail was pretty even and easy to hike. Great views over the city.

From the refugio you can continue up to a mountain top. We went up a bit, but didn’t go all the way to the top. Crazy how the weather changes as you go upwards. From hot-that-you-can-wear-shorts, to cold ass winds that you wish you brought your gloves,

Before we headed back down we stepped inside the refugio and had a cup of hot chocolate. Talked to the guy that worked there. He had been living there for the past year. He hiked down frequently to buy supplies, food and a 30kg gas tanked that he hiked up with on his back. By the way, you could also eat pizza and have a beer here. The 2nd hut is the one you could spend the night in and you can also camp up here.

4 days a week they have a market in town. For being a small town, the market was huge! But some knitted socks and a hat from a local lady and they cost like $20. Will show pics, just haven’t worn them yet.

Got back to Bariloche last night. Today we went into the main town and got some stuff for our overnight hike tomorrow. I really thought they would have more and cheaper hiking gear here since this is an outdoorsy town. Kind of like when I was in New Zealand. But there is not a huge selection and because it’s all imported it costs more too. But got what we needed and I’m so excited for the hike.

Had to eat some more ice cream too. Mamuschka, one of the most popular places in town and it was super good ice cream!

Gonna put some stuff out for tomorrow and go through it all in the morning before throwing it down in the backpack 🙂 All the fresh mountain air (and local wines & beers) here makes me tired early, so after that it’s off to bed 🙂 I think some of you might be watching Super Bowl so I hope your team wins if you’re a football fan!

Another great…

…week in Utah has flown by. I love that I can get all my beautifications done here. Last summer when I was here I found Luxe Beauty Day Spa. I love that the lady (forgot her name) doesn’t hold back when she adds on the lash extensions. She agrees with me when I say ‘more is more’. So many times they try to convince me that it’s not natural looking with these huge, voluminous lashes, but that’s the whole point I think 🙂 If I was satisfied with natural looking, I wouldn’t get them done in the first place! She also gave me a touch up on my brows. I’m now ready to face the world and do not get in the way of my lashes hahahaaa…

It’s still super hot here, but in the evening it’s a perfect temperature for a walk. You almost always see a mountain range as a backdrop to the humongous houses. And sometimes you come across a friendly goat too 🙂

The best walk is the one to Handel’s Ice Cream 🙂 Best homemade ice-cream in Salt Lake City!

Put in some work too. Fans need their Puma and I like to keep them happy 🙂

Found an amazing restaurant and lodge in the woods too. Went straight to chasing waterfalls.

Yesterday was spent in Park City. I love it there. Cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. There was a huge market going on also. Had to constantly remind myself, I’m moving and can’t buy any more stuff! (Unless I can eat it). Sometime I’d like to stay there for a week or visit the Sundance festival when it’s happening. Oh, they also have Swede Alley there. Wonder if they named it after me? Or there’s another great Swede out there I don’t know about?

Finished the book ‘Blood Meridian’ by Cormac McCarthy. I think the book was OK, but if you are going to read a western, ‘Lonesome Dove’ by Larry McMurtry is like 10 times better I think. ‘Blood Meridian’ was partly great, but mostly I felt is was about riding in the desert with no water or food and scalping Indians and killing some other folks that got in the way…

I also bought a Kindle now. I love a physical book, but damn the Kindle is convenient. So much easier to hold when reading in bed. How funny is it that this is the book recommendation I got on it right way?

Cheers to another great week ahead! I’m off to Vegas on Thursday to visit a friend over the weekend 🙂

Salt Lake City, Utah

Been in Salt Lake City in Utah for exactly a week now. I spent a month and a half here last year around the same time and I love it. There’s a crazy heatwave here right now and it’s so hot.

One of my favorite places here is the gym. It’s huge and they have any piece of equipment you’re looking for. Or not looking for… I think this is the gym with the fittest people I’ve ever seen. Very motivating working out being surrounded by massive muscles and 6-packs hahahaaaa… Checking my gains!

My hair needed maintenance badly. Luckily while trying out a new coffee shop, I saw there was a hair salon upstairs in the building. What are the odds that it would be a great salon I thought. Well, after some Googling and reading reviews, I found out it’s rated as one of the best salons in SLC. And even more amazing was that they had a cancellation the next day and I got it! My plan was to just fix the roots, but as usual I got carried away…

What do you think? I love it! If you’re in SLC and need to fix your mane – Tallulah East Collective is the place!

Obviously I needed to capture some pics and video the next day. Nothing better than when the professionals fix your hair and it’s maintenance free for a couple of days. Better take advantage of that…

Also about 25min outside of town, there is this great farm where you can buy great meats, eggs, and raw milk. It’s called Utah Natural Meat & Milk. I like my meat grass-fed and hormone free! Best part was to say hi to the horses on the farm!

What I love the most here is the nature. There’s hikes everywhere and you don’t have to drive far to find a trailhead. Yesterday we hiked to Blood Lake and continued to Lake Lackawaxen. Pretty cool that there’s still snow up in the mountains. It’s a nice and easy trail but some annoying mosquitos around the lakes 🙂

There are so many great coffee shops here. Right now I’m sitting writing to you at The Honeysuckle Coffee Co. Their coffee is the bomb and they bake their own pastries which I can’t resist!

Oh, and if there’s any daddies out there – Happy Fathers Day to you! I’ll keep working for a bit more and I’m thinking about going to buy a Kindle. I love physical books, but with all the moving around, I hate leaving them behind.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and I’m going to leave you with the link to one of the best newsletters I subscribe to – https://jamesclear.com/3-2-1. His name is James Clear and he’s written the popular book ‘Atomic Habits’. I haven’t read his book yet, but I love his newsletters.

All the best, Puma
